It was for a relatively short period that I was privileged to know Jo. Being in her company was like enjoying the prologue to a good book, an indicator of what might follow. More the sorrow that she slipped quietly away. But what a joy to have been with her, to have shared laughter and learning. In short, a remarkable lady, a tonic to all.

I met dear Jo through our shared delight in the novels of the American author Marilynne Robinson and we quickly became close friends. I loved Jo for her endless curiosity about the world, her deep and abiding interest in people and the rare talent of being a good listener. I will always cherish the care and love she gave to me right up to the very end of a full life.

I am fortunate to be Jo’s “Oz Coz” and can say distance made no difference to our relationship: how grateful I am to have been gifted with a “sister” in Jo.
From our first meeting until the last I felt loved and enjoyed by her— what a rare combination.
Thank you my dearest Jo for your love and friendship,Kathy (Oz Coz)
